Do You Dread The Hospital Visit?
“Allen, those uncomfortable pockets of silence are darn near torturous. I sit there watching them [the patients] struggle to put on a brave face while in obvious agony. All the while, Allen, my mind scrambles to find the right words to say. Finally, I just stand up and say ‘I’ve got to hurry now before rush-hour traffic.’” These are the words of a man describing why he hates the hospital visit.
Do you dread the hospital visit? Should you ever have to make a hospital visit, this brief post will make that visit a joy-filled experience. Reader, be conscious of this: You are the Light of the world. Make that visit in the power of your God-Being. In any hospital visit, there is only one thing to remember: YOU ARE NOT THERE TO SAY ANYTHING. YOU ARE THERE TO KNOW THAT GOD IS ALL.
Stand On The Rock Of Truth
Standing on and as this solid Rock of Truth is all that is required. From this high point, the right words will flow from your mouth as effortlessly as the river flows downstream. And maybe no words will come at all, but it does not matter.
Sitting in that hospital room, mindful of God’s Allness (and nothing else), don’t be surprised if later you get a call saying, “What did you say to Aunt Nancy? She appreciated your visit so much. She said you really inspired and lifted her spirits.”
While hearing these words, you may think to yourself, “What did I say?” But it wasn’t what you said. IT WAS WHAT YOU WERE KNOWING AND BEING that inspired, uplifted and revealed God’s Presence.
When you stand on and AS the solid Rock of Truth (God is All), every word that you say is inspiring and empowering – even a joke. Yes, even your laughter rings with Truth, and the pockets of silence echo God’s Allness.
Stop worrying about what to say and just be concerned about what you know.
