Easy Living

God Is All

Something Wonderful Just Fell In Your Lap

What if you did follow Christ’s counsel to “seek first the kingdom of God?” Daily, you’d pray to know, understand, and even experience this kingdom. Soon, according to Christ’s promise, you would find this kingdom of God. You’d have struck gold.

Now your life is transformed. First, there’s the mind-blowing realization that the God you’ve been seeking, you ARE. Your world view changes. Everything, and everyone, is seen in a new light – the Light of God’s Presence. It’s wonderful.

Most astonishing, is that many of the things you struggled to attain, effortlessly fall in your lap. Isn’t that what Christ promised? “…and all these things shall be added.” And, it was all so easy. That’s my point: Spiritual living is easy.

When You Think About It, Human Living Is Hard

Why, then, do people say spiritual living is difficult? After all, the foundation of spiritual living is simple: God is All. Easy peasy. Go back to the beginning of this post and review the process. The prayer focus was on God and making God discoveries. Without any effort, those God discoveries revealed more of God’s Infinite Goodness as daily wonder-filled living experiences. Again, easy peasy.

However, spiritual living can seem to be hard as a stone wall. When prayer is adulterated by human desire, everything falls to pieces – useless pieces. When prayer is used to heal, prosper, bless, and enhance, things go haywire. “Allen, I don’t understand. I affirmed. I sat in the silence, and I contemplated, but nothing happened. I wasn’t healed. The job didn’t come through, and I’m still broke.” After weeks of praying to fix it, or get it, and the thing isn’t fixed or attained, frustration and doubt take over. God’s Allness is questioned, and from this point it’s all downhill, backwards on ice.

Is spiritual living, living without? No! Remember, “and all these things shall be added.” Health is the added thing. Prosperity is the added thing. All that which makes for “good living” are the added things, and you should enjoy them all.

Face this fact: Human living is hard. Starting and attempting to live from the false premise that you are separated from God and everything else is hard living.

You spend your waking hours struggling, fighting, and clawing to get the things your heart desires. Once you manage to get just a few of these things, you worry and scramble to maintain them. Then, there are trials and tribulations – one after another. That’s human living, and it’s hard living.

A Wonderful Life Of Discovery

Spiritual living is true living. And it’s effortless living. Spiritual living is a life of discovery – God discovery. It’s a life of discovering the nature of God, your Identity, your Body, and your World, and all of these awe-inspiring discoveries happen in the stillness of silent prayer.

Each new discovery unveils more of God’s Perfection in (as) your Life. They don’t create more good in your life, for all the goodness of God is already present. Your discoveries simply disclose them as practical, ready-to-be-enjoyed experiences.

Try It For Yourself

Don’t take my word for it. Try it for yourself. Jump, heart first, into the exciting world of God-discovery. Below are some helps.

  • Stop working on a problem. It’s all your “work” that seems to keep the problem in place.
  • Set your prayerful attention on one thing only – discovering Truth from within.
  • Before you get down to the business of praying, state your intention. It may be something like this. “I’m here to discover more Truth.”
  • Listen, expecting to make a spiritual discovery.

How long to listen? Until you get antsy. Then, get up and go about your business. Do this daily until you make a God-discovery. You will. And these discoveries will reveal more of God’s Presence in (as) your daily affairs.

I will not be surprised to get an email from you saying, “Allen, so many wonderful things are happening, and it’s been so easy.”

Be Done With Illusions and Appearances

listen

The Promises

You will never be deceived by illusions again.

You will never be victimized by the appearance of disease, lack or discord again.

That’s what I’m promising you, reader, if you follow the suggestion of this post. In the best case scenario, you will never even seem to see or experience an illusion. Yes, this is possible because what follows also facilitates illumination – seeing what Is.

Its Power Is Unmatched

If you’ve read my books, and this blog, you know I advocate Self-Questioning. This is a practice of asking questions of “your” God Consciousness and listening for the answer. The power of this practice is unmatched.

From the previous post, you and I have realized that illusions are nothing – no thing at all. They have no power, simply because they have no presence. Oh, I know they often seem real, but they aren’t. With what you and I know about the nature of illusions, let’s bring Self-Questioning into the mix.

This One Question Covers All The Bases

Ask this question of “your” Infinite, Indivisible, All-Knowing God-Consciousness.

Since God is All, who sees or experiences an illusion (or appearance)?

Helpful Hints

Below are some helpful hints as you begin your listening adventure:

  • Don’t reason out the answer. It must be Revelation.
  • The answer may not be revealed immediately – not even the first day. Since the answer is literally life-changing, it’s worth the wait.
  • Don’t strain for the answer.
  • The answer is Self-Revelation. It is not coming “to” you from an outside source, but from within.
  • Enjoy!

All You Need To Know About Revelation

happy

I write a lot about Revelation. Outside of a few authors, not much is written about it. In this post, my intention is to share what is essential to know about Revelation and clear away some of the cloudy misconceptions about it. Let’s get right to it.

REVELATION IS A NATURAL EXPERIENCE

There’s nothing supernatural or mysterious about Revelation. Although it doesn’t seem to be, Revelation is your natural experience. REVELATION IS YOUR MIND KNOWING GOD’S ALLNESS, FRAMED IN THE WORDS AND LANGUAGE THAT YOU ARE FAMILIAR WITH. If you are French speaking, you will not experience Revelation in Farsi. Furthermore, Revelation may be experienced without words, but that’s for another post.

Your Mind, being the Mind of God, is always knowing God’s Allness – even now.

Revelation seems mysterious because it’s often experienced as occasional flashes of spiritual insight. Yet, Revelation is happening all the time.

Do you remember, as a child, being totally engrossed in a television show or computer game only to hear your mother say, “Didn’t you hear me?” No, you didn’t hear her, because your attention was focused elsewhere. It’s the same with Revelation. It’s going on all the time, but while you are focused on the fiction of human phenomena, you don’t seem to “hear” it.

REVELATION IS SELDOM EXPERIENCED WHEN YOU ARE TRYING FOR IT

Some people, serious about this “God business,” approach prayer with the same exhausting effort of a professional bodybuilder working out in the gym. They strain and labor for Revelation. The prayers and meditations are laced with anxiety. Nothing good ever comes out of this.

Most often, Revelation is experienced while you are sipping coffee at a neighborhood bistro, leisurely strolling the neighborhood, or gently squeezing the kumquats in the supermarket.

Your quiet time of contemplation opens the gates of Revelation, but you may not experience it while praying or contemplating. The important thing is this: stop trying.

REVELATION = DEMONSTRATION

This is the magic, but often ignored, formula. No Revelation = no demonstration.

While nearly drowning in a sea of debt, Linda Little repeated the words “All that the Father has is mine.” She said the words all day, every day, for weeks. Sinking deeper in debt, she said to me, “Allen, this Truth stuff doesn’t work.”

“Linda,” I said, “you repeated the words of Christ Jesus. Were they revealed to you, or were you merely saying words you read in the Bible?” She confessed that she was merely repeating words she read.

This is not witchcraft where mere incantation leads to demonstration. The formula restated is: TRUTH REVEALED = TRUTH DEMONSTRATED. Yet …

REVELATION IS NOT CAUSATION

Revelation does not cause good things to happen in your life. Revelation does not heal your body, nor does it fill your wallet. And, of course, Revelation does not make God be present.

Imagine that you are searching for a small gold screw in a dimly lit room. You need more light, so you grab your new LED flashlight. Shining it on the floor, you exclaim, “There it is! Right in front of me!”

Did the flashlight create the screw? Did it place the screw in front of you? Or, did the flashlight merely reveal the presence of the screw?

Revelation merely reveals the presence of what is already present. It reveals the whole body right where the sick body seemed to be in a darkened sense of reality. It reveals ever-present abundance right where lack seemed to be.

In Truth, there is no cause AND effect. There is just God being All.

YOU ARE THE REVELATION YOU ARE SEEKING

The reason why Revelation is a normal experience is because YOU ARE THE REVELATIONS THAT YOU SEEM TO SEEK. This fact eliminates all the unnecessary struggle.

Yes, you are the Revelation. You are the source and essence of Divine Revelation. Precept by precept, we are going to see why this is true.

  • God is All
  • God, being All, is the absolute Truth
  • Only Truth can be revealed
  • Truth revealed is God revealed
  • God is the Revelation
  • You and God are One
  • YOU ARE THE REVELATION

Contemplate these ideas. For the next few weeks, review them daily. Presently, you will see for yourself that everything written above is true.

Revelation Is A Normal Experience

The Backstory

Here’s the backstory of this post. Before Marie Watts (The Ultimate) “passed,” she talked incessantly about her latest manuscript. “This book must be published,” she said. “It’s the most radical thing I’ve ever written.” I was just as excited about its publication as she was.

The book was never published. However, I knew the manuscript was kept in a box of her private things, and occasionally, when I talked to Jacqueline, her granddaughter, I hinted at the manuscript. She never took the bait. For a few years I wondered what could be more radical than her last books. I wanted to see that manuscript. What follows, in this post, is how I satisfied my curiosity.

Why Did They Throw My Book Away?

My first book, God is All, has seen more trash cans than a city sanitation worker. I’ve seen folk toss the book aside in a fit of suppressed rage. Others have confessed to throwing it away – even burning it. And it’s all because of a few sentences in the first chapter of the book. Granted, those few sentences compel the reader to confront what they truly know about God.

Here is the excerpt: “We cannot live parasitically off of another’s realization of Truth … however each and every person must come into his own recognition of who and what he is via revelation and realization.”

These words provoke the reader to think the following: “Everything I know about God, and everything I know about my spiritual identity, I’ve learned from a book or a tape. Nothing has been revealed. I’ve been living parasitically off of Joel Goldsmith, Marie Watts, Alfred Aiken, etc. I really don’t know anything. Hmmph, I don’t like the way this book makes me feel. I’ll show him just what I think about his book.” Right here you can see God is All flying into a nearby trash receptacle.

You Already Know All The Truth There Is To Know

Often, I open my seminars by asking “How much of what you know about God is from something you read or heard?” Asking for a show of hands, I proceed, “How much of what you know about God is by direct inner revelation?” No hands go up.

Where I’m going with these questions is summed up in these words. ALL THE TRUTH YOU WILL EVER READ OR HEAR IS ALREADY IN YOUR CONSCIOUSNESS. IT WAS THERE BEFORE YOU EVER READ OR HEARD IT, AND IT’S BETTER TO GET IT THERE THAN ANYWHERE ELSE.

Don’t Settle For Quotitis

Along the way, I’ve met many people in the advanced stages of “quotitis.” Perhaps you’ve met some yourself. These people can quote long passages from the Holy Bible, Science and Health, and books by Joel Goldsmith, Marie Watts and Alfred Aiken. But, spend a day walking in their lives. There is no evidence they have ever heard or read a word of Truth. Until Truth is Self-Revealed, all you have are letters and sounds. No demonstration. The Golden Formula is Revelation = Demonstration.

Why settle for quotitis when you can experience direct Revelation? I know Revelation seems to be a supernatural experience reserved for the really serious. Not so. Revelation is a natural and constant experience of the one Infinite, Indivisible Consciousness – your Consciousness. I try to make this fact clear in the Prayer Project.

Try This Instead

Now, let’s move this blog post from theory to actual experience. Before we proceed, I acknowledge that here, lately, I’ve been playing a one-note Samba. What follows is nothing you haven’t read before. The question is: Are you doing it?

For the next few weeks, keep up your so-called spiritual practice, which hopefully includes a period of silent “listening.” Be sure you are not working on specifics, or even hoping that some situation will be worked out. Proper prayer is not the place for that. In your listening, let this be your attitude: “In these moments of silence, I’m letting Consciousness revel in its own Illumination.” Then be still (with no other motive in mind), and I guarantee you will experience how natural Revelation is.

In case you’re wondering how I satisfied my curiosity about Marie Watts unpublished book, it was by realizing any Truth in that manuscript is already in Consciousness – mine and yours.

Someone Needed To Remind You Of This

ripple

Sunlight At the End Of A Dark Tunnel

I remember the first time I listened to a Nikki Giovanni recording. I remember the golden voices of the gospel choir that sang in the background as she read her poetry. One particular poem evoked the joy of seeing sunlight at the end of a dark tunnel. I played that poem over and over again. It wasn’t the entire poem that grabbed me; it was just the opening words. “One ounce of truth benefits like ripples in a pond.”

Picture it. A little boy throws a stone into the middle of a still pond. Water circles ripple from the center to the circumference of the pond. One stone, many circles. One ounce of Truth does benefit like ripples in a pond. One ounce of Truth. Not a quart, not a gallon, but just one ounce of Truth.

How Many Books Do You Have To Read To Handle The Situation?

The spiritual implication of this means that you don’t have to read an entire shelf of Truth books. Just one sentence from one book is enough to “benefit” every area of your life. Haven’t you sometimes felt that you didn’t know enough Truth to meet your need – to handle your emergency? Then, perhaps, you flipped through book after book hoping to find some magic Truth statement that would fix the situation. “One ounce of Truth benefits like ripples in a pond.” Any Truth statement from any book would have been enough!

Haven’t you sometimes felt that your present understanding of Truth wasn’t enough? Whatever Truth you do understand is enough to meet any need. If you really know one statement of Truth, rejoice. That one statement will carry you through the rest of your eternal life. Of course, you will contemplate that one statement, and you will listen in silence as it unpacks all of its mysteries and secrets. Out of that one statement will come a hundred and one Truths.

What Is Your Favorite Truth Statement?

Do you wonder how one Truth statement can benefit every area of your Life? Here’s how. Every statement of Truth is your Life. It is not a statement about your Life. It is your Life. One statement of Truth understood shows itself, in some way, to be the reality of your Life.

What is your favorite statement of Truth? I mean that one you default to when the going seems rough. Imagine that statement to be a nutshell, and inside that shell (statement) is every Truth that has ever been written or spoken. When you contemplate that statement and ask it to reveal its mysteries, you open the door for all Truth to flood your Consciousness. This is Revelation. Every statement revealed to you then shows itself to be the reality of your Life – every aspect of your Life.

Right this very moment you know enough Truth to handle any appearance of lack, limitation, disease, etc. Don’t believe otherwise.

Joel Goldsmith On Problems

solution

When You Are Confronted With A Problem Turn Within

Let it be clearly understood that the wisdom of man is not sufficient to give anyone the specific truths adequate to meet a problem. When you are confronted with specific problems, whether your own or somebody else’s, you cannot rush around looking for a memorandum of some recording you have heard or some passage in a book you have read to remind you what truths you are supposed to know, because, even if you found them instantly, they would not be too helpful.

All truth is given to us from God, and if you want to know the truth about anything – the specific truth – you do not have to go to a book to find it. Turn to God within. There is a specific truth for every problem, and the abiding place of that truth is in your consciousness. Your consciousness is the place where every bit of truth is found.

There Is A Specific Truth For Every Problem

“The kingdom of God is within you.” There is nothing for which you could seek that you cannot find within yourself. When you learn to receive the answers, you will find that you are given a truth, a specific truth with which to meet every problem because there is a specific truth about every problem which will be revealed through turning wholeheartedly to God and in meditation seeking Him alone.

The question often arises as to whether or not God knows anything about our problems. Probably not, but when you go within asking, “What or where is the bread of this day?” the answer may come, “I am the bread, the wine, and the water.” Or if you should ask what the truth is about a particular situation, you might hear the words, “I am the truth.” The problem of the organs and functions of the body may be uppermost in your mind, and then the truth may reveal itself in this way, “I govern the organs and functions of the body. Life governs the organs and functions of the body. Organs and functions do not govern life.”

Problems Are Opportunities

There are stages in our experience with problems. The first period is when we have a problem that to us is a very real one, and we turn to a practitioner, teacher, or teaching for help in solving that problem. The second stage of our unfoldment is that stage in which a problem becomes an opportunity.

Jacob had reached that stage when he wrestled with the angel all night long and would not let him go: “I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.” It is when we are at that point that we, too, say, “I don’t want this problem to pass until I have seen the spiritual light that dissolves it, and which, in dissolving this problem, will dissolve all the problems which may be developing tomorrow or next year.”

Suppose that we do have a problem of disease? Suppose that we are meeting with lack and limitation? Why be concerned and why struggle as if we must get rid of those problems when our function is to prove the nothingness of them? Therein lies the secret. If our function is to prove the nothingness of all the appearances that the world calls discord, then why should be we concerned when the opportunity comes to us to prove their nothingness, first to ourselves and then to the world.

Have You Called Several Practitioners Without Results?

listen

The first time I called a practitioner was for employment – or so I thought. Within a few days, job offers poured in. I called the practitioner again and said, “Please stop. I decided I’m not ready to work.”

The second time I called a practitioner, I was in a financial crisis. In a few days, the supply came in. Then, there was the time when I just left the Emergency Room. The doctor said unless I had an operation tomorrow, things would go badly for me. I called the practitioner and was healed within hours.

Reader, to tell you the truth, a Pink-rumped Rosefinch could pray for me, and the results would be similar. It seems that I’ve always responded to prayer. But, this post is not about me. This post is for those of you who seem to get no help from a practitioner.

Marie Watts (of The Ultimate) told me many times that she never received help from a practitioner. During her time in Christian Science, she was acquainted with some of the best practitioners in the movement. Yet, they were not able to help her.

Then, she said these words, “Allen, when a person has tried many practitioners without receiving help, it’s because they are able to do the work themselves.” I believe this. I sincerely believe that if you have tried one practitioner after another without getting help, you can successfully help yourself. Don’t be afraid! You can do it.

Below are two approaches for “doing your own work.”

LAY IT ON THE LINE

In this approach you lay out all the troubling appearances that seem to be real, and then you ask (God Consciousness) what is really going on?

For example, “It appears that my eyes are red and swollen. It seems as though my vision is blurry and out of focus. These are the appearances, but right where this trouble seems to be happening, what really is going on?” Then, you listen. If no answer comes forth immediately, repeat and listen. Don’t lose heart. Consciousness will reveal what is true.

SKIPPING APPEARANCES ALTOGETHER

If there appears to be trouble in your experience, it’s not what it appears to be. It looks troublesome, and it may even appear to be life-threatening, but it’s not. This troublesome thing is drawing your attention to some Truth of God.

In this approach, you simply ask in prayer, “What is the Truth that I most need to know now?” Or, for those who are rattled by the duality of such a question, you can ask, “What is the Truth that I am knowing right now?”

Reader, I’ve used both approaches. When something seems so horrific that it knocks me off balance, I opt for the first approach. Either way, your focus is not on healing but knowing what IS. I repeat the words of Marie Watts, “Allen, when a person has tried many practitioners without receiving help, it’s because they are able to do the work themselves.”

You can do your own work!

Try This Contemplation For 7 Days

bt-contemplation

The Main Idea

There is one infinite, indivisible Presence, and I am It.

For the next seven days, I am suggesting that you use the above statement as a springboard for your daily contemplation.  So that there is no confusion about the “how” of this contemplation, I am writing it out exactly the way I am suggesting that you contemplate it.  As follows:

There is one infinite, indivisible Presence, and I am It.
There is one infinite, indivisible Presence, and I am It.
There is one infinite, indivisible Presence, and I am It.
There is one infinite, indivisible Presence, and I am It.
There is one infinite, indivisible Presence, and I am It.
There is one infinite, indivisible Presence, and I am It.
There is one infinite, indivisible Presence, and I am It.

Seeing The Main Idea From All Angles

Imagine going to a museum and gazing at a life-sized sculpture.  To take in the full beauty of the sculpture, you have to move around and look at it from many angles.  Similarly, this contemplation takes one spiritual idea that you consider from many “angles.” Instead of moving around a physical sculpture, you view the idea in many ways by emphasizing key words.

Note that all but two words are bolded. Each of your contemplation periods will consist of the main idea repeated slowly seven (7) times. On each repetition let your consciousness savor the bolded word.  You may be inspired to linger on that word a while. You may be inspired to rest in a moment of silence, after saying the word.

On some bolded words, you may linger even longer.  That’s okay. Although you are dealing only with one spiritual idea, each word that you dwell on is sure to reveal something new.

Give Up The Control

Once you’ve completed the seven (7) repetitions, be still and let Revelations flow within Consciousness.  Although I have given the above suggestions, the contemplation will start to have its own life.  When this happens, don’t try to control it.  It’s possible that you may not make it through the seven repetitions in one sitting.

Reader, after the seven days are over, please let me know how this went for you.  I look forward to hearing from you. In the next post, we will take this out of the seats and into the streets.

Haven’t Experienced Revelation? Here’s Help

blog

Sitting In The Silence, But No Revelations

“Allen, I’ve sat in silence for years, but nothing happens. No revelations, no illumination – nothing. I’ve read your books and have practically memorized Joel Goldsmith’s, but I can’t figure out what in the h**l I’m doing wrong.”

Reader, is this where you seem to be? I’ve been there. It’s frustrating. It’s disheartening. After a long while of “nothing’s happening,” you just go through the motion of silent praying, but you don’t expect anything to come of it. It’s maddening!

Don’t Be Discouraged. There Is Only One Mind.

Because I have been there, I’m offering the following suggestion to newbies in order to bypass this phase, and to the disheartened, to finally find fulfillment.

But first, reader, take a look at the premise that undergirds the suggestion.

God is All. There is only One Mind, and that Mind is the full Revelation of Truth. This is “your” Mind right now.

The mind that has never experienced Revelation – the unillumined mind is no mind at all. It is non-existent.

In short, at this very moment, you are a fully Illumined Identity. You, reader, are Revelation Itself.

Now that you have read, understood and accepted the premise, let’s move on to the suggestion

Try This For Thirty Days

Before you start your silent prayer, acknowledge that you are already fully Illumined. Acknowledge right now that you are the full Revelation of Truth. STOP reaching out for Truth. Instead, settle into “your” fully illumined Mind.

Try this for 30 days, but remember, no reaching out. Settle in.

Embrace Effortless Awareness

BeStill-700.png

Flashing Of The Neon Lights

For almost two weeks, like neon lights in the black sky, the words CONSTANTLY CONSCIOUS kept flashing in my awareness. No matter where I was or what I was doing, the words blazed in my mind: CONSTANTLY CONSCIOUS.

Here’s the back story. One night while silently praying, the universal, impersonal Consciousness revealed this idea: YOU ARE CONSTANTLY CONSCIOUS OF GOD BEING THE ONLY PRESENCE, POWER AND EVIDENCE WHETHER YOU ARE CONTEMPLATING OR NOT.

Even When You Think You’re Not, You Are

Reader, please read the revelation again. This is your Truth, and it is your Truth now. Even when you seem to be caught up in the busy-ness of daily living – not even thinking about Truth – you are CONSTANTLY CONSCIOUS OF GOD BEING THE ONLY PRESENCE, POWER AND EVIDENCE.

Knowing that you are CONSTANTLY CONSCIOUS, isn’t it a relief from that inner struggle to attain Illumined Awareness? Let’s further explore this idea.

Consciousness Is Impersonal

Consciousness is not a personal possession. Illumined Consciousness is a universal presence and a universal Fact of Being. It is God. You, reader, are Illumined Consciousness Identified. All that you are (including your Body) is Illumined Consciousness CONSTANTLY CONSCIOUS of being all that God is as you.

It’s Marvelous

Now that you have considered and embraced this Fact, your days and nights will never be the same. At once, you notice that your days and nights are filled to overflowing with indescribable joy. The effort to think True thoughts and to hold onto Truth is now replaced by experiences of Truth spontaneously surging as your awareness. Effortlessly, you are “praying without ceasing,” and serenely, you are “dwelling in the secret place of the Most High. It’s marvelous.
