Does Evil Exist?

“All of the metaphysical literature I read states there is no evil. But, Allen, all I see around me is evil. Please help me understand how there is no evil.”

The Simple Answer

I think I wrote on this subject before, yet there is always more to say. So, let’s jump right in. The easy answer is: Because God is Love and God is All, there’s no place for evil to exist. However, that’s too easy. Let’s dig deeper into God’s Allness for a better answer.

A List Of Evils With One Common Denominator

Take a look at this list of evil appearances:

  • war
  • disease
  • abuse
  • crime
  • accidents
  • discrimination
  • bullying
  • enslavement

By no means is this an exhaustive list, but it’s enough to get the ball rolling. Read the list again. What do the listed items have in common? There is a common denominator here. Do you see it? The answer is duality. For any of these appearances to exist, there must be more than one present. In each case, something is done to something or someone else. In each case, there’s more than one.

Love Is The Only Power

From Jeremiah 23:24 we read, “Do not I fill heaven and earth says the Lord?” Then turning to Isaiah 45:5 we see, “I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me….”

Despite all appearances, there is only one Infinite, Eternal, Indivisible Presence present. Because it denotes one unified whole, Indivisible is the key-word here. This One, as all Action, is called (in human terms) LOVE. That’s why you often read, “Love is the only Power.”

The Antidote To Evil’s Appearances

Since there is only One, do you see the impossibility of actual evil? Whenever there appears to be the threat of evil in your life, remind yourself that Infinite, Indivisible Perfect Presence – God – is all that is Present.

I know firsthand that sometimes the threat of evil will make the heart race and the mind conjure up pictures of doom and disaster. The antidote is the crystal clear realization of Indivisible Oneness. Have you ever prayed for a realization of Oneness? Try it.

Ask This One Question

The questioner states, “all I see around me is evil.” Yes, that may be true. And it’s equally true that all a Midwestern farmer will see when he looks at his land is a flat earth. Without an aerial view, he wouldn’t know better.

Christ Jesus and his followers looked at the same land. They saw a troubled earthly environment while he saw the Kingdom of Heaven. What’s going on here? Christ had an aerial (transcendent) view, and we can enjoy that same view of our environment.

If what you are seeing troubles your soul, know that you are not seeing what IS. It’s an alert to reassess what you are seeing. This is, as you’ve guessed, an “inner” approach. In silent prayer ask of “your” God Consciousness: Is this God appearing? Now, wait for the answer. You may have to rinse and repeat, but it’s worth it.

Try This Contemplation For 7 Days

bt-contemplation

The Main Idea

There is one infinite, indivisible Presence, and I am It.

For the next seven days, I am suggesting that you use the above statement as a springboard for your daily contemplation.  So that there is no confusion about the “how” of this contemplation, I am writing it out exactly the way I am suggesting that you contemplate it.  As follows:

There is one infinite, indivisible Presence, and I am It.
There is one infinite, indivisible Presence, and I am It.
There is one infinite, indivisible Presence, and I am It.
There is one infinite, indivisible Presence, and I am It.
There is one infinite, indivisible Presence, and I am It.
There is one infinite, indivisible Presence, and I am It.
There is one infinite, indivisible Presence, and I am It.

Seeing The Main Idea From All Angles

Imagine going to a museum and gazing at a life-sized sculpture.  To take in the full beauty of the sculpture, you have to move around and look at it from many angles.  Similarly, this contemplation takes one spiritual idea that you consider from many “angles.” Instead of moving around a physical sculpture, you view the idea in many ways by emphasizing key words.

Note that all but two words are bolded. Each of your contemplation periods will consist of the main idea repeated slowly seven (7) times. On each repetition let your consciousness savor the bolded word.  You may be inspired to linger on that word a while. You may be inspired to rest in a moment of silence, after saying the word.

On some bolded words, you may linger even longer.  That’s okay. Although you are dealing only with one spiritual idea, each word that you dwell on is sure to reveal something new.

Give Up The Control

Once you’ve completed the seven (7) repetitions, be still and let Revelations flow within Consciousness.  Although I have given the above suggestions, the contemplation will start to have its own life.  When this happens, don’t try to control it.  It’s possible that you may not make it through the seven repetitions in one sitting.

Reader, after the seven days are over, please let me know how this went for you.  I look forward to hearing from you. In the next post, we will take this out of the seats and into the streets.

All You Need To Know About Your World

ww

Look Around You — Everything Is Wonderful

Wherever you are reading this post, stop and look around you. Soak in the environment. If you can step outside, do so. Look around you. Reader, this world that you are looking at is the world where God is All. This is the world where there is only One Presence, One Power, and One Identity.

Things Are Not What They Seem To Be

Many people say, “Allen I know God is the only presence and power.” Yet, let them keep talking and the conversation steers toward clashes in the home, clashes on the job, body aches, healthcare, bullies, how bad things have gotten, etc. Although they say God is the only Presence, their words reveal that they live in another world where God is not all.

Yes, reader, I know it appears (to some) that this is a material world, but it is not. I know it looks like material laws hold sway, but they do not.

God Is Both The Seer And The Seen

This world you are moving, living and breathing in is God being All. Truth-be-told, this is the world where God is both the seer and the seen. When I think about this so-called world, I often refer to it as a ready-to-take-out-the-oven, fully-baked world. It’s finished, complete, perfect and lacking nothing. This “world” is Perfection Itself – What a Wonderful World.

Reader, as soon as you are able, take a moment to contemplate what is presented in this post. Listen for further Revelation. The Revelations that come forth will be many and wonderful.
