This Is All You Need To Know About Fear

The Story Of The Mysterious Pus-Oozing Bumps

One night I woke up about 3 a.m. Something felt wrong, but I didn’t know what. I happened to run my hand over my shoulder, and what I felt made me shuffle to the bathroom to take a look. When I looked in the mirror, my mouth opened wide as a canyon. My upper body was covered with pus-oozing bumps. How could this be? Hours earlier, when I took a shower, my skin was smooth as satin – or maybe kid leather.

I went back to bed thinking, what the heck is this, and what am I going to do. Fear took over, and my body started shaking like a paint mixer. I couldn’t stop it. Going to the Emergency Room was not an option. I didn’t believe any medical practitioner would tell me “Allen, you’ve got nothing to worry about; God is all there is.”

Lying in bed, I knew I had some fear to conquer. If I didn’t, nothing good would follow. To conquer fear, there is one way that always works for me. What I did, you can do. No matter how bad it seems, no matter how life-threatening the appearance, you can as do I did.

Conquer The Fear And You’ve Conquered The Problem

I took my mind completely off of the body and all that appeared to be wrong with it. Then, I turned my prayerful attention to one thing only: realizing more of God’s Allness. Healing was not my focus. God realization was. It didn’t happen immediately, but soon enough I was swathed in a blanket of peace. I knew, then, that all was well. I lay there basking in the peace.

After a while, I got out of the bed and looked in the mirror. Most of the pus-oozing bumps were gone. By morning, it was like nothing ever happened.

My reason for writing this post is to share with you what I learned about fear, and how to handle it. Note that in this story the fear abated before the situation “changed.” Here’s why. When you take your attention off of the trouble and refocus it on the highest Truth you know, or on knowing more Truth, the Christ, or God-Mind, in all its peace and serenity, is experienced as your only Mind.

Mind Does Not Fear

Mind does not fear. It knows nothing about the ghosts and goblins that seem to haunt so-called human experience. Mind knows no disease to fear. This is why you can experience peace despite monstrous appearances. Mind knows Oneness. Mind knows the Allness of Peace. Mind knows all is well because It is the All being Well.

All you need to know about fear is this: THE MIND THAT FEARS, AND THE THING IT FEARS, ARE NOTHING. NO THING AT ALL.

This Is Better Than A Good Memory

I-Forgot-to-Remember

They Couldn’t Believe He Did It

For over an hour we stood in an ever-growing line waiting for the concert hall to open. All around us we could hear people speaking in hushed tones. One woman behind us whispered, “You think he’ll show up? After all, he is ninety years old.” Someone else said, “I can’t believe he’s still touring. What if he cancels?”

Well he did show up. His fingers flew up and down the keyboard faster than the wings of a hummingbird. He played the audience as well as he played the piano. At moments we laughed; at times we fought to hold back tears. Sometimes we sat mesmerized by the dazzling display of virtuosity. And this so-called ninety-year-old man played these thousands of notes all from memory. All from memory.

Memory Is Highly Overrated

My mom says her memory isn’t what it used to be. Some of my friends tell me the same thing. So what! If it seems like you can’t remember things like you used to, count your blessings. Memory is highly overrated. Good memory or bad memory, what does it matter? They both are the activities of a mind that does not exist. Memory is the illusory function of an illusory mind.

Reader, the memory-mind is not your mind. It was never your mind. Maybe they labeled your mind as a slow-learning mind, or some other mental disorder. So what, it was never your mind. Furthermore, you are not at the mercy of a dysfunctional mind. Enough about the illusion. From here on, it’s all good news.

The Mind That You Are Knows Everything, But Remembers Nothing

There is but One Mind, and God is that Mind. God does not have this Mind. God is this Mind. Naturally, Mind is infinite and all-knowing. This all-knowing, infinite Mind is the Mind that You Are. You don’t have this Mind. The one and only Mind is the substance of the I Am that You Are.

My greatest discovery about the Mind you and I are, is that it does not remember a thing – nothing. Therefore, this Mind is never in danger of forgetting a thing. RATHER THAN REMEMBERING AND FORGETTING, MIND REMAINS IN A CONSTANT STATE OF KNOWING.

It Is Practical

Reader, enjoy the practical implications of what you just read. Stop trying to remember a name or a fact. Instead, as the one all-knowing Mind, know that you know it, and you will find this to be true. Suddenly, the name, or the fact, will come forth in your awareness.

The same goes for your keys and your wallet. Stop rummaging through drawers and ransacking the den trying to find them. Instead “be still and know” that as the One, All-Knowing Mind, you know the location of everything you need at the present moment.

As for the concert pianist, maybe he didn’t memorize a thousand notes. More likely he just knew them.
