Don’t Wait For A “Demonstration”

This excerpt is from Paul Gorman’s book, The Giving Self (The Immediate I). Big Sur Publishing in the UK was owned by Paul Gorman. It was his publishing company that first published my second book, Sounds of the Trumpet.

Change What You Accept And Change The Evidence

We read books, attend classes, and seek spiritual counsel. Yet we seem content to end each day still missing the fullness of harmony that is our very own Being, and ours to tangibly experience each and every day. This is strange because Spirit is what we Are and what we have; Spirit is All-Present already – fully finished, complete, omnipresent; therefore immediately available to your experience in Its fullness of harmony each and every day.

It is only individual acceptance that “we do not yet have the material harmony we want and need” that obscures it from our tangible experience. Change what you accept and you change what is tangibly evident in your experience.

Parable Of The Lost Child

Imagine if you lost sight of your young child in the park. Would you accept that appearance and walk home without her? You wouldn’t dream of it! You would start looking harder. You would look here and there, and another one thousand places until you found her. Only then would you walk home, with her.

The Three Essential Steps

The secret of evidencing an infinity of spiritual Good is a very similar process and discipline. Let’s say you are experiencing a lack of money – but the same applies for any appearance of lack, limitation or discord:

First you realize the nature of the appearing lack-its nothingness, its illusion. It is just an image of lack produced by the fogginess of the mind senses but not in any way real. Second, you close your eyes, go within, get quiet and still, then simply wait for the glow of Spirit to make Itself felt in one way or another – as a sense of peace or calm or release from the outer scene, or joy or heat or light, or even just a nice feeling of silence and safety deep within your being. Third, when you feel Spirit happening within you know that the “demonstration” of supply has “been made and you get up and go about your business in full confidence that the supply you felt within will now become visible in one way or another in the outer.

But do you? Do you really know that the invisible supply will quickly become evident in the “outer?” Or do you “walk home” accepting that it “has not yet appeared” but hopefully will tomorrow or next week? It is unfortunate but this “acceptance” of separation from Good results in just so many days weeks, months or years in a lack experience. Spirit is not evidenced where the “lacking consciousness exists; yet Spirit is evidenced continuously, and in all its free flowing abundance where the “I Have” consciousness exists.

Let’s say that one or two hours after this meditation your good was still not evident. What do you do? In the same way as you would look and look and look for your child until you found her, you “look and look and look” until your good appears tangibly. In the case of spiritual demonstration “look and look and look means have “more silence, more silence and still more silence” until the dawning of a greater spiritual awareness within takes place.

Don’t Walk Away Without Your Child

Do not walk away without your demonstrated good! The problem is not that your good is not present but that you cannot yet see it. That’s a whole different ball game. If it was truly absent we have a different problem, and a more difficult one. We would have to go off searching for it somewhere, or perhaps manufacturing it somehow. But the infinity of Spirit and everything Spirit Is and Has, is right where you are – “closer than breathing”, so we need not go searching anywhere for It.

Our “problem” is that of not “seeing clearly”, rather than of not “getting”. Our immediate Good – the complete, overflowing Fulfilment of the appearing need – is present where we are. All we have to do is “see” It. In the same way as we would not walk home without having our child we do not walk home without having our Good tangibly, materially, physically in our hands So we keep re-entering the Silence, our Silent Self, the Silence which Is the One Form of All. We keep knowing that our Good is present in Its Fullness and that we are only being silent so that we may see what Is the finished Kingdom of Allness spread all over the earth, at our feet. We keep on and keep on entering the silence letting and letting Spirit become more brightly illumined in our withinness – until – there It Is! the Peace, Joy Light actually felt as a happening within. Now we “see” our Good tangibly, right there in our withinness, overflowing.

Can you imagine the great Master accepting that the crowds were hungry yet being unable to feed them? Can you imagine Him walking home that night without having “demonstrated” all the tangible supply needed to satisfy the crowd’s hunger with “twelve basketsful left over? Of course not!

We must have the same sense and commitment to the immediacy or spontaneity of Spiritual Allness. Your infinite Good is present with you this very minute, in actual Form. It is Spiritual Form the only Form there is. It always has been with you and always will be “closer than breathing”, in infinite measure. Your, and my, only need is to be still and silent enough, often enough, to have the omnipresent Good “shine through” the dense fog of the mind, into tangible visibility. That is all. There is nothing else to the demonstration of all the Spiritual Good in the universe.

From this hour onward, whenever good appears to be so distant from you, do not accept that appearance. Know that All Good and Perfect Existence is right there where you are, in Its fullness. Do not read more pages, do not listen to more audios, do not attend more classes. Simply go back and back and back into the infinite storehouse of Silence, and there, in the deep withinness , with a little, or sometimes a lot of, persistence and patience you will soon discover your Good right in front of you “pressed down, pouring out, running over”-“rolling in ecstasy at your feet”.

Have You Ever Wondered About This?

I am so disappointed when I hear that a Truth teacher is having health challenges. Why do enlightened students and teachers of Truth still get sick and have problems?

Did You Believe This Too?

Most so-called “students of Truth” think all their problems will be solved once they realize God is All. No more sickness. No more sadness. No more stormy relationships. Realization, they believe, zaps away problems forever, and life trips merrily along amid rainbows and rose-strewn pathways. Not so!

Here’s the truth. After realizing God is All (and not merely reading and saying the words), problems pop up, but they don’t alarm. Problems no longer mean what they did before. Yes, it may cause you to totter, but they won’t floor you. Why? Because you understand the marvelous significance of the problem.

Flashcards To The Rescue

During your school days, did you ever study with flashcards? These were cards with a word or question on the face of the card. The other side had the definition or answer. You tested your knowledge of a subject by going through the flashcards.

Imagine you are studying for a French vocabulary exam. There are 15 flashcards. As you go through the flashcards, you nail 13 of them with the correct answers. However, you struggled with the last two answers. That’s okay. The “magic” of flashcards is they reveal gaps in your knowledge of a given subject. That’s all. Now, all you need to do is close the gaps.

Closing The Gap

For the enlightened students (and teachers) of Truth, problems are like flashcards: They reveal seeming gaps in their knowledge of God’s Allness. After the gap is revealed, the student goes about the business of closing the gap.

One way of closing the gap is with a simple prayer like this, “God, reveal the Truth that is most important for me to know.” Then it’s listening – expectantly – for that Truth.

Some see problems as devastating blows to their happiness and well-being. That’s because they see the problem as a real power – even a real presence. The enlightened student of Truth sees the problem and thinks, “I know this problem seems real, but only God’s Presence is real. I’m grateful for this opportunity to close this gap in my knowledge of God.” Then, they pray the gap-closing prayer in the previous paragraph.

Few And Far Between

Do we ever reach a point where there are no more problems? I believe we can. More specifically, I know that you do experience long stretches of problem-free living. As the seeming gaps close, the stretches get longer and longer. Rather than a life strewn with troubles, it’s more like rose-strewn pathways under rainbows in the sky.

Are You Seeing The Evidence? (M. Watts)

see

Sometimes one will say, “I see all of this Truth so clearly; and I accept it fully, but I do not see or experience the evidence of it.” In this very mis-statement we have the basis of our seeming failure to experience the full evidence of the Truth we know to be true. If we question, “Why isn’t this Truth evident?” we are actually claiming the absence of God’s evidence of Itself. We are also claiming the presence of some utterly false evidence. Beloved, this is a very insidious delusion. And it behooves all of us to refuse to be deceived by its fallacious claims.

God, Truth, being omnipresent, is ALL THAT IS PRESENT NOW. Thus, Truth – the Truth you know– is ALL THAT IS PRESENT NOW. That which is present is EVIDENCE. To disclaim the evidence of Truth would be do disclaim, or to deny, the Omnipresence that is God. Let’s never claim that God is All, and then disclaim the Allness that is God by a denial that the evidence of every Truth we know is present right here and right now.

Perhaps it may not appear that Truth’s evidence is present; but we cannot accept this illusion any more than we accept the miasmic picture of disease, trouble, or lack. We should gently but firmly insist that the evidence of God is God. And that this evidence is just as present as is God.

It is natural to expect Truth, and Its evidence, to be simultaneous. But, if we keep looking for the evidence; if we keep expecting the evidence to appear, we seem to be deceived in two ways. First, it appears that Truth’s evidence of Itself has been absent and may now be visibly present. Next, the illusion that Truth’s evidence is not present, now, but we expect it to become evidence. In either case, it is a denial of the constant fact that the Truth you know, and the evidence of this Truth, are inseparably ONE.

Hold steadfastly to the PRESENCE OF THE EVIDENCE OF TRUTH THAT IS PRESENT, AND YOU WILL DISCOVER THAT IT REALLY IS THE ONLY EVIDENCE, AND IT IS THE ONLY EVIDENCE THAT HAS BEEN PRESENT ALL THE WHILE.

Success Is Normal

keys

This excerpt is by Marie Watts from the booklet Success Is Normal

If it seems that you are not being successful in your business, your profession, or your employment, it is necessary to be specific in your realization that you are the universal Principle, Success, in action as your business, your profession, or your employment.

But do not attempt to block off your business or your professional success from the entirety of your successful Existence. The universal Principle is inseparable. It cannot be divided into blocks or areas of success. It simply will not be apparent completely unless you are aware that this Principle is complete, omnipresent, and equally present and active everywhere and eternally.

In like manner, if you seem to be unsuccessful in your home, it is necessary to specifically recognize the fact that success is omnipresent. Thus, it has to be present and evidence in and as your home. But, of course, you will not attempt to limit this Principle to your home.

What we are pointing up here is the fact that the indivisible nature of the Principle, Success, must be realized if you are to be conscious of being completely successful. But this does not mean that you should not be alert and recognize success to be present in any specific activity that might temporarily seem to be unsuccessful. The Infinite Principle remains the same successful activity, whether it is evident as universal activity, the activity of adding a column or figures, or baking a cake. And because you know that you are the I that I AM, you also know You are this universal Principle in action.

You are not concerned with being a success. You know that you are successful because you are the very Principle called Success. Thus, you do not labor, struggle, plan, or strain to accomplish being that which you already are.

So Are You Saying …?

event-cover-8198
Below are questions that have come up regarding the last two posts about those “Stubborn Problems.”

Allen, what you’ve written in the last two posts sounds like old Christian theology where God sends adversity to teach us a lesson. Am I missing something?

Yes, you are. These posts could not suggest anything like that. It’s clearly stated that the problem, no matter how long-standing, is not real. By not real, I mean not really present. However, these problems seem real and appear to be very present.

God cannot send non-existent difficulties. As you must know, God (Perfection) is right there where the difficulty seems to be. For many years we have declared that God is the only Presence … until a problem arises. Then, the One becomes two – God and the problem.

These two posts about “stubborn problems” are merely saying there is still just the One Presence and Evidence. Part 2 offers suggestions on how to see and experience the One, and only the One. Reader, our whole business in life is to know, see, and consciously BE the One, and that’s because there is only One to know, see and BE.

You write a lot about asking and listening. Even your last post boils down to asking and listening. That’s hard for me. Any alternatives?

It was a challenge for me as well. However, I realized that without revelation, you only have words you’ve read or heard. Words, just words. Revelation establishes these words as verifiable facts.

If you are asking for a suggestion, here’s one. Read the last two posts again. Then, if you appear to have a problem, make a decision to resolve that problem via the suggestions made in those posts. Take no human steps to resolve the seeming problem. All steps are inner steps of mounting realization. No matter how long it seems to take, resolve it only in this way. Having done that, I know you will never default to any other way. Furthermore, the listening and hearing will be much easier.

The Solution For Stubborn Problems Pt. 2

there-is-always-hope-dont-give-up

So far, we’ve established our foundation:

  • Don’t tolerate any appearance of imperfection – no matter how long-standing.
  • Don’t give in to the appearance.

If it seems as though your problem is still clinging like a tree monkey, it’s time for more decisive action – the activity of God realization. From this point forward you’re going to move beyond all of your frustration and confusion.

Perhaps doubt has snuck in through the back door of your frustration, and you thought, “This Truth isn’t what it’s cracked up to be.” You’re going to move beyond this illusion of a doubting mind to embark on the most thrilling adventure of your life. I mean it. Despite the many pleasures and happy moments you have enjoyed, nothing compares to what is about to happen for you.

The thrill of discovering a God-fact via direct revelation is matchless. Why? Because that God-fact, revealed, shows up as a so-called “healing” of the problem. Let’s start the adventure.

LOVE YOUR PROBLEM

Don’t fear it! Don’t resent it! Love your problem! Love it. Not because it is real, but for what it can reveal. If you’ve endured a long-standing problem, you’ve probably said many times, “Why is this happening to me? After all the Truth I know, how could this happen to me?” Loving your problem is going to reveal exactly what is happening.

The problem, no matter how long-standing exists (or at least seems to) for one purpose – to draw your attention to a specific God-fact. Once the God-fact is known, the problem has served its purpose. The God-fact reveals a Truth of God, and in the wake of that revelation is the perception of God’s presence right where the problem seemed to be. Had the problem not appeared in the first place, most people would not be steadfast and faithful in wanting to move beyond their present understanding of God’s Allness.

I HAD A PROBLEM AND LOVED IT BECAUSE …

It was not a long-standing problem, but one that seemed life-threatening. All night I was in and out of silent, God-focused listening prayer. The revelation that came forth was a watershed moment completely changing my perception of the Body. For that reason, I loved the problem. Otherwise, I would not have been pushed to go beyond my present understanding of the Body.

Is the problem necessary in order to discover the God-fact? Absolutely not! But let’s be honest. Most people pray more fervently when things are going wrong. And that’s when more God-facts are realized. Do you see why I urge you to love your problem? The God-fact that it is turning your attention to is priceless.

DISCOVERING THE GOD-FACT

It’s time to turn and see exactly what God-fact your seeming problem is signaling. God-facts cannot be reasoned out. God-facts cannot be intellectually discerned. They can only be revealed by way of silent, listening prayer. There are many ways to approach this, but I’m suggesting two.

Go Directly For The Fact

After you’ve settled in and are ready to listen and “hear,” simply ask your God-Consciousness, “What is the Truth I most need to realize?” You ask and you listen. Repeat if necessary. In this approach, you are totally bypassing the seeming difficulty and your total focus is on the spiritual discovery of a God-fact.

The Springboard Approach

This is the approach favored by many. I think it’s because the seeming problem is at least addressed, and then immediately dismissed. Here you start with the problem and use it as a trampoline to spring to greater awareness of God’s Allness.

After you’ve settled in and are ready to “hear,” you lay it all out on the table as it appears to be. Below is an example:

It seems that I’ve been suffering from kidney pain for the last fifteen years. The doctors say that it is due to a rupture of some type and that I need surgery. Sometimes the pain is unbearable, and I can barely move. Then, I spend the rest of the day in bed. This is all what appears to be, but what is the Truth I need to know?

That last sentence is the most important. Again, you ask and listen, and repeat if necessary. In either approach, you continue until the Revelation of the God-fact is experienced. Your question may be, “But what about my problem?”

Problems, long-standing or otherwise, remind me of the Mission Impossible movies. Have you ever seen one? The adventure-packed film opens with Ethan receiving a plain envelope. Inside there is a gadget with the IMF mission that concludes with “Your mission, should you decide to accept it ….” After that, the device self-destructs. Problems alert your attention to a God-fact. Once the God-fact is discovered, the (seeming) problem self-destructs. Or, in spiritual language, its “something” is revealed and evidenced to be nothing.

Joel Goldsmith On Problems

solution

When You Are Confronted With A Problem Turn Within

Let it be clearly understood that the wisdom of man is not sufficient to give anyone the specific truths adequate to meet a problem. When you are confronted with specific problems, whether your own or somebody else’s, you cannot rush around looking for a memorandum of some recording you have heard or some passage in a book you have read to remind you what truths you are supposed to know, because, even if you found them instantly, they would not be too helpful.

All truth is given to us from God, and if you want to know the truth about anything – the specific truth – you do not have to go to a book to find it. Turn to God within. There is a specific truth for every problem, and the abiding place of that truth is in your consciousness. Your consciousness is the place where every bit of truth is found.

There Is A Specific Truth For Every Problem

“The kingdom of God is within you.” There is nothing for which you could seek that you cannot find within yourself. When you learn to receive the answers, you will find that you are given a truth, a specific truth with which to meet every problem because there is a specific truth about every problem which will be revealed through turning wholeheartedly to God and in meditation seeking Him alone.

The question often arises as to whether or not God knows anything about our problems. Probably not, but when you go within asking, “What or where is the bread of this day?” the answer may come, “I am the bread, the wine, and the water.” Or if you should ask what the truth is about a particular situation, you might hear the words, “I am the truth.” The problem of the organs and functions of the body may be uppermost in your mind, and then the truth may reveal itself in this way, “I govern the organs and functions of the body. Life governs the organs and functions of the body. Organs and functions do not govern life.”

Problems Are Opportunities

There are stages in our experience with problems. The first period is when we have a problem that to us is a very real one, and we turn to a practitioner, teacher, or teaching for help in solving that problem. The second stage of our unfoldment is that stage in which a problem becomes an opportunity.

Jacob had reached that stage when he wrestled with the angel all night long and would not let him go: “I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.” It is when we are at that point that we, too, say, “I don’t want this problem to pass until I have seen the spiritual light that dissolves it, and which, in dissolving this problem, will dissolve all the problems which may be developing tomorrow or next year.”

Suppose that we do have a problem of disease? Suppose that we are meeting with lack and limitation? Why be concerned and why struggle as if we must get rid of those problems when our function is to prove the nothingness of them? Therein lies the secret. If our function is to prove the nothingness of all the appearances that the world calls discord, then why should be we concerned when the opportunity comes to us to prove their nothingness, first to ourselves and then to the world.

In An Emergency, Where Is Truth?

mugger

Please Stop Asking This Question

“Allen, believe it or not, people have emergency situations where they don’t have time to go into long periods of silence waiting for a revelation. What do you do, in the moment, when you’re facing danger?” That’s the question a member of my congregation once asked.

I plead guilty to writing an awful lot about silent prayer. In my estimation, it is the golden key that opens the door of revelation. Is it the only key? I don’t know. What I do know, for sure, is that silent prayer gets the job done. But, silent prayer is not a god. It is a tool for the realization of God.

You’re Right, This Is No Time For Silent Prayer

When life-threatening trouble seems to spring out of nowhere, you don’t turn to silent prayer for deliverance. You turn to the Truth that’s been revealed in silent prayer. Often that revelation is the inner conviction that God is really all. That, reader, is enough.

If you’ve been following this blog for a while, you know that I am a proponent of Truth’s practicality. Truth revealed is practical – even in the merciless clutches of life-threatening situations. I’ll share this story with you that happened many years ago.

Here’s What Happened One Spring Night

One cool spring night, I was walking home from a church near downtown Baltimore. While walking, I thought about all the ways I could improve the class I was teaching at the church. One idea after another popped into my head as I strolled along. I was in my own little world of ideas.

Suddenly, everything sped up like a movie on fast forward. First, I felt something pressing against the small of my back. Then, an arm wrapped around my chest, and two voices said, “Don’t turn around.” At that point I knew there was a gun in my back. One of the muggers threw me to the ground and rifled through all my pockets.

As I was falling, my first thought was “God is All.” At that point things seemed to slow down to a slug’s pace. As soon as I said God is All, I felt like I was wrapped in a cushiony cloud of protection. Then, I knew all was well.

The muggers ordered me to get up. Again, I was commanded, “Don’t turn around.” The next command was to run into the alley. I ran. Shots were fired. I kept running. Finally, I said to myself, “Allen, enough running.” I slowed down and continued my walk home – more deliberately. Throughout it all, I was not injured.

The Beauty of Silent Prayer

You do agree that this qualifies as an emergency situation, don’t you? Then consider these facts. There was no time to “go into the silence.” There was no time to seek Revelation. Truth-be-told, I didn’t try to think a spiritual thought. The words “God is All” flashed in my awareness without effort.

This is the joy and beauty of silent prayer. Once a Truth is revealed, that Truth will always surface at the appropriate time as a reminder that only God is present. You can never be thrust into any situation where Truth revealed doesn’t immediately deliver you from the illusion that something other than God’s Infinite goodness is going on.

What Are These Evil Appearances?

itsallgood

Appearances Of Evil Alert You To The Reality Of Perfection

Let’s now perceive how it is, and why it is, that any appearance of evil is not evil – that it really serves a good purpose. If the fulfillment of any purpose is good, the impulsion behind this purpose has to be good, and not evil. The mistake lies in our misconception of the meaning of that which we have called evil.

Just as a mistake in mathematics calls your attention to the perfect mathematical fact, so it is that any appearance of evil serves to call your attention to some specific aspect of good, or God. God is Perfection; thus Perfection is a universal as well as a specific fact. Any appearance of imperfection serves to call your attention to the perfect Principle, which is Perfection.

Evil Can Only Be Troublesome If You Think It Is Real

A mistake can seem to be troublesome, or evil, only so long as it is mistaken for a fact. One your attention is focused upon the perfect fact, the mistake is canceled. It simply vanishes.

You do not resist the mistake (evil). You do not attempt to overcome it, or to oppose it. You know it to be a mistake, and that ends it as far as you are concerned. The seeming evil served its purpose, and your attention is now focused upon the perfect Principle. You keep your attention focused upon the universal and the specific fast until the evidence of this fact is apparent.

You can never make a figure 5 become a figure 4. Neither can you make an appearance of imperfection become perfect. Your awareness of Perfection is the revelation and the evidence of that which is revealed.

You Are Always Abundantly Supplied

For example, it may appear that an appearance of lack seems to be present. This is not evil. Rather, it should be considered as merely the signal signifying the presence of infinite, omnipresent Supply, which means that you will immediately contemplate the universal fact – omnipresent Supply.

When you are constantly and consciously attentive to the perfect fact – and only this fact – the evidence of its presence is inevitable.

It’s What You Know – Not Who You Know

d360dbb0-a374-498d-939e-27941d9a2377

The excerpt below is by Marie Watts from Fulfillment of Purpose. You can order her books from Mystics Of The World

How To Find A Job, Home, Companionship, Etc.

Suppose, for instance, you are unemployed. It may even seem that there is no employment in sight. Then, too, you may feel that your training and experience qualify you for a certain type or work or profession, and that you cannot function successfully in another type of activity.

Perhaps you feel that if you could just “make the right contact,” you would find employment that was suitable for you. This is a trap, beloved one, and you will not be caught in this duality, neither will you accept limitations.

There Is No Other Consciousness

You know there is no Consciousness separate and apart from the Universal, indivisible Consciousness that you are. You also know that every Identity is the very same Consciousness that you are. You know there IS NO DIVISION IN OR AS THE CONSCIOUSNESS THAT YOU ARE, AND THAT YOU CANNOT CONTACT ANY OTHER CONSCIOUSNESS FOR THERE IS NO OTHER CONSCIOUSNESS FOR YOU TO CONTACT.

There Is No Time Or Space Barrier Between

Now what has take place? You have perceived the glorious omnipotent fact that anyone and everyone necessary to your employment — your fulfillment of purpose at that moment — is already present within and as the Consciousness that you are. You have realized that there is no “time” lapse in or as your awareness of this Truth. Furthermore, there is no “time” lapse or “space” lapse that can even seem to act as a barrier between you and anyone and everyone who is necessary to your completeness.

When you have contemplated in the foregoing way, you may feel that you should make a phone call, write a letter, or take a walk in a certain area. Again, you will realize that this is your Universal — as well as your specific — Consciousness knowing what it should know this moment.

You act without thought according to this prompting or impulsion and, no doubt, you will discover why you felt impelled to make the call, write the letter, or take the walk.

Watch Your Motive!

Right here, you must be very alert. If you do any of these things hoping you will “contact” someone who will be instrumental in helping you to find employment, you may be disappointed. It just doesn’t work this way. You “take no thought.” You simply act in this way because you feel impelled to act. It is well to give no consideration to that which seems to be the problem at this point.

Wonderful Things Are Happening

Wonderful things have taken place when all concern for the solution of any seeming problem is transcended. You see, once having contemplated that which is true, you know that the Truth you have perceived is evident. Therefore, you no longer are concerned about it, or with it.
