The Immensity Of Your Identity

In Christ Jesus’ most famous open-air sermon (the Sermon on the Mount), he said to his disciples, “You are the light of the world.” Was Christ charging his disciples with the responsibility to enlighten the world with this new teaching? Many Bible scholars believe so.

Digging deeper into his words, you’ll discover that Christ was turning their attention – and yours as well – to the immensity of their True Identity.

“God is light and in him is no darkness at all” (1 John 1:5). These words mean exactly what they say. God is Light.

Imagine your bedroom flooded with a light so bright and brilliant you can’t distinguish the distinct shapes of the objects in the room. Divine Light is similar to that.

God’s Light is present everywhere. But the truth is, God’s Light is the everywhere, the Substance of everything and everyone. Yes, this Light is the Substance of You. Can you accept this? If so, it’s easy to perceive that You are Light. For now, don’t try to see this Light; just accept that it is.

Right now, you are in a wonderful position to take a giant leap of understanding. You are Light, and you can accept that. But do you think this means you are a separate lamp of Living Light? If so, let’s look at this from a grander view. For that, we have to go to the beach.

Picture it. You’re standing at the shore with an eyedropper in your hand. You bend down and draw up a single drop of water out of the ocean. Humor me and name that drop “Billy.”

Billy, as you know, has all of the properties of the ocean, but now he’s separated from it. In that separation, he’s not what he used to be. Billy doesn’t have the size or power of the ocean supporting him, nor is his movement assisted by the motion of the water.

Yet what happens when you drop Billy back into the ocean? Here’s a clear explanation. “When a drop of water returns to the ocean, it instantly loses its identity as a separate drop … becoming a part of the ocean’s enormous volume.”

Please read that quote again. It is the key to Self-understanding. You are the Light of the world, but you are not a separate little lamp of Living Light.

You are the Light of the world because of your Oneness “with” God. In this Oneness, you lose all sense of separation and are now the grand Ocean of Living Light that is God’s Presence. In your awareness of Oneness, you are the Light that is the entirety of existence.

“But Allen, what about the other people I see and know?” There’s one loving answer to this question.

Mis-perceived, those so-called others are separate little lamps of Living Light. Rightly perceived, they are, like you, the same grand Ocean of Living Light. Rightly perceived otherness has been replaced with Oneness. [Be clear: You do not lose your individuality in Oneness, but you do lose your separation.]

In a nutshell, your Oneness with (as) God is your Oneness with and as all Life. This is true Love.

Accept and Acknowledge This — Often

This excerpt is by Lillian DeWaters, an early author of the Absolute.

When you find a teaching which proclaims, I am the living Truth, then you have heard the real Jesus-Christ-Message which is destined to free you .

Jesus taught, “I am the Truth,” while the present day teaching regarding your self is to the contrary; for you have been taught to believe that you are not the Truth, – but man, the student; not Life, – but its expression; not the Way – but the follower of it.

What a difference it makes to your vision and experience to be the Truth and the Life, rather than a student applying Truth to your problem! So long as you consider yourself a student shall you find yourself confronted with problems. For are not problems part of the life of a student?

If you seek knowledge, what shall be the knowledge that will completely satisfy you? Surely nothing but the established-from-the-beginning fact that I, myself, am the Way the Truth, and the Life.

The facts which Jesus taught about himself must inevitably be the ones which you are to see as true of your self, else what advantage are they to you?

Definitely, the greatest fact you can learn is the knowledge that you are the living Truth. As you come into the positive and luminous awareness of this eternal verity, all lesser viewpoints are bound to completely leave you.

Jesus knew that he was the Truth Itself, the Life Itself, the Way Itself, and he said so. He took this stand as the fact of Being, thus nothing could ever hurt him, affect or destroy him. Let people think they could lay hold of him. They found themselves grasping at thin air. Let them attempt to kill him. They saw him walking about in their midst, unharmed.

All things may appear to change and vary; but true Being remains ever the same. It holds Itself invincible, infallible, indissoluble; true and absolute, always.

Until you see and feel that you are the Truth … and not man, the idea or student … you shall always be trying to get out of difficulties called problems.

To the Truth, all is perfection; and to the one Being, all is the perfect Whole. Thus for you to ever be perfect, changeless, pure and incorruptible, you must now be the Truth, and nothing less.

This Is The Freeing Truth

This excerpt is by Lillian DeWaters from The Voice of Revelation

God Here And Now

Where is the Omnipresent God if not right here and now where we are? Why look forward to some other place, time, or plane to find rest, peace, and happiness than now, at hand? Why think of the next plane? Only because of belief and teaching that we are humanity, living now in a temporal, human body.

One Self, One World, One Mind

God does not see us as other beings, other minds. Though we have been taught to believe that we have personal or human minds, and live now in a human or material existence, this teaching and belief has an end. Enlightenment has revealed that there has never been more or other than one Self, one Consciousness, one World, and one Existence.

Be Consistent

There must be no further acceptance of dual belief. For example: To say there is one Mind only is Truth. If you rest your understanding here, you would have Knowledge. If, however, you then proceed to state that the human mind is opposed to God, that the human mind is all that produces pain, that the human mind must rise above the sense of materiality into spiritual understanding, you have directly contradicted your statement of Truth that there is one Mind only.

It is the Truth that our only Being is God; it is the Truth that our only World is within us; it is the Truth that our Consciousness is Christ Illumination. The belief, therefore, that we must develop into our own Self, journey to the perfect World, or accept Revelation as belonging to certain ones in past history has no truth in it.

You are here and now God-Self, God-Being, God-Consciousness, and your Illumination is ever at hand. This true and right Knowledge will bring to an end the wrong teaching that you are a human or mortal, living in a temporal existence, to reach perfection through progressive human footsteps.

Stop The Excuses

There remains now no excuse for double-mindedness, double-vision, and double-talk. When you perceive that you are accepting a teaching that you are humanity; that there are human minds and human bodies, it must be clear to you that you are believing in a separation from God. Thus, automatically, you are identifying yourself with sickness, limitation, trial, and tribulation.

The hour is here now when you should identify yourself with pure Knowledge and right teaching only, for nothing else will ever satisfy.

Living It Is Better Than Reading It

Let’s Live The Post

Most likely you’ve already read the last blog post, How To Read A Truth Book. Did you merely read it, or did you read it well? Are you living it? After re-reading that post, I invite you to choose a start date and live it for 30 days.

Let’s make beholding the Christ (or God Identity) a lifestyle. We say that we believe (even know) God is the only Presence. God, therefore, must be the only Presence of every Identity in this wonderful “heaven” we call Earth. Let us, then, look at what appears to be human identities and perceive only God Identities.

Know What You Mean When You Say It

Before you start on this project, let’s clarify what you’re doing. It’s not enough to just say, “I behold the Christ as you.” You must know what you mean when you say it. The list below gives you a hint:

  • You are exactly what God is as you.
  • You are the Presence of Eternal Life.
  • You are Immortal.
  • You are Living Perfection.
  • You are Illumination in living action.
  • You are Light, Love and All-Knowing Intelligence.

That’s enough to get you started. During your 30-Day Exercise, other ideas will percolate and pop into Consciousness. When that happens, you will not miss a Christ-beholding opportunity.

Below I answer a few questions you may have before starting this project.

Do I include myself?

Yes. Every morning you see your reflection in the mirror. Don’t pass up this Christ-beholding opportunity. It’s a great way to start your day.

Am I to try doing this for everyone I see during the day?

No. That would induce unnecessary stress. It’s better to randomly select people throughout the day. Pick the driver in the car next to you, or someone in a crowd crossing the street. Throughout the day, you could choose a different co-worker. You get the point.

Because of health complications, I am housebound. Can I still do this exercise?

Of course you can. Do you watch television? You can choose any actor on the screen. Do you talk to friends and family on the phone, or on facetime? That’s another perfect opportunity – even as you are talking.

Once, you get started, you’ll discover plenty of opportunities to behold the Christ.

What if I’m resistant to beholding the Christ of a family member?

To get the most out of this 30-day exercise, I’d start with that particular family member. With this family member, all you need is a simple willingness to let go of the resistance.

Take this family member into your contemplation and start by saying, “I am willing to let go of my resistance to beholding God as the reality of your being.” Then, be still. Listen. Let the revealing Word come forth in Consciousness. It will.

There will not be another post until September. However, I would like to hear about your experience with this exercise.

Are You The Only One?

Allen, I don’t feel like I have any spiritual support. I’m the only one in the household who believes this stuff. It’s difficult. What do you suggest?

Finding People Who Believe As You Do

I’ve heard this question, expressed in different words, a zillion times. Since I started Absolutely Yours, people have written or called telling me how they are the only ones in their family or social circle who are into the Absolute (God is all there is). Whether they write or call, you can sense a desperate cry to find people “who believe as I do.”

The Allness Of God Is All –You’re Not The Only One

Getting back to the writer. She writes, “I’m the only one who believes this stuff.” [Let’s both ignore the word “stuff.”] Her own admission is the root of the problem. She claims she believes that God is All. Beliefs, as I’ve always said, are like weather vanes. They constantly change according to the winds of emotion or external influence. Reader, you have to know that God is All – not merely believe it. When you know it, you know that All means all. It doesn’t just include everyone in your social circle. The Allness of God is everyone in your social circle.

The One that is All is the one and only Mind that exists. Yes, it’s true: The Truth knowing Mind is the only Mind. There is no other. There is no mind that doesn’t know God to be All there is.

Is There One Mind Or Minds Many?

When I was touring with my Infinite Way sponsored lectures, many hosts asked me to have closed classes like,Joel Goldsmith used to have. These classes were for the more advanced students. I refused. The whole idea smelled of dualism. Doesn’t it reek of minds many instead of the One Mind? It’s the belief in many minds that appears to out-picture as “I’m the only one in my social circle….”

People Who Know As You Know Are All Around You

I remember a popular Truth teacher saying that you can people your world with the living Christ simply by recognizing that Christ is their reality. Have you tried that? Here’s a way to get started.

For the next seven days, try this. Going about your business as usual, every now and again pick out a person and acknowledge, “You are the Living Christ. You are the Living Understanding of God’s Allness. You know God is All, for you are the Allness knowing Itself.”

Never mind what they seem to be or what they seem to believe. That’s none of your business. Your business is the constant acknowledgment of God’s Allness. It only matters what you know to be true.

As you continue to do this, it will seem like the people around you are changing. They will appear more loving, and their conversations more pleasant. They are not changing. You are seeing their true nature more clearly. It’s wonderful.

Select That One Person

What I’m suggesting next will require a bit more commitment, but what you get in return is priceless.

Select someone in your immediate social circle who does not accept God as the only Presence and Power – at least that’s the way it seems. It may be your spouse or loved one living under the same roof. Or, perhaps you have a close friend who seems to have no interest in God or spiritual matters.

Choose someone who fits one of these profiles. You are going to use them to deepen your awareness of the Truth that Divine Mind (God) is the only Mind. They don’t have to know what you are doing. This is a matter of you knowing the Truth.

Your next step is to pray. You are not praying for them; you are praying to perceive them as they are. There are many ways to approach this, but whatever way you choose, God’s Allness is at the helm. Let’s proceed.

The first approach is easy. Whenever you see your “chosen” person, do what was suggested earlier. Acknowledge: You are the Living Christ. You are the Living Understanding of God’s Allness. You know God is All, for you are the Allness knowing Itself.

At first, it will seem as though you are just saying words – words that don’t appear to be true. Never mind. You know that God is All, and therefore these words must be true.

At some point, a light of understanding will flash in “your” Consciousness. You will know that the words are true. This knowing will change how you perceive this one. But that’s not all. They will seem to change as well. Don’t be surprised when they start holding conversations about God. Don’t be surprised when they blurt out some recent spiritual discovery. And don’t be surprised when your relationship with this person changes for the better.

The Silent Way

This next way is my favorite. Take your “chosen” person into a silent prayer session. You are going to acknowledge what appears to be true, but you won’t stop there. The purpose of this approach is to discover whether the appearance is genuinely true. Let’s say that your chosen person is named Tom. You’ll proceed like this – using your own words.

It appears that Tom has a mind of his own and that he believes that disease, age, lack, limitation and prejudice are really present. Does Tom have a mind of his own that believes there is a presence and power other than God?”

Don’t reason out the answer. Nothing worthwhile will come of it. The answer must be revealed. Wait silently for Consciousness to reveal what is true. It will. You may have to do this a few times, but when the answer is revealed the dynamics of your social life will change.

Give this a try. Put your heart into it. After a few weeks or maybe months, get back to me and let me know how it went for you.

Who Are You?

The following excerpt is by Absolute author, Lillian DeWaters from her book, Who Am I?

I have taken the liberty to make some changes. The changes make the text easier to read and understand.

Today, many are wondering why they do not accomplish more through their study and prayer. Reader, are you one of these? Do you question, Why does not God, the Truth, heal me entirely? Why am I not quickly brought into prosperity and success? Why must I wait longer?

The reason why one has not known the correct answers to these questions sooner, and so found the true solution to the problems at hand, is because he thinks from the mistaken viewpoint that he is not the One Identity, not the One Life, not the One Being, but another being called man.

So long as you believe yourself to be someone besides the “I,” you can never understand nor experience the Truth of your Being.

Tragically enough, however, if you do not know and identify yourself as the perfect Self, but with an assumed personality or mentality, you live in mystification and ignorance. Assuming another identity, you become weak, sick, poor, and limited in every direction.

Moreover your whole existence now becomes a search to find yourself – to find Truth, to find love, peace and immortality. Your one idea now is to become what you already are – strong, well, wealthy, happy and satisfied.

Never, can you, or anyone, truly realize your hope to be well and happy, prosperous and satisfied so long as you identify your “I” with anyone but God – the One Alone.

Listen! There is but ONE God, ONE Self; ONE I; ONE Life; ONE Being. Therefore, to believe that you are another – such as image, idea, expression, man – is to be self-deceived … and thus at the mercy of your own misconception.

To illustrate. Every time anyone seeks to change or spiritualize his thinking, he is unwittingly identifying himself with a personal mind.

Furthermore, every time one attempts to heal his body of discord or disease through some kind of thought or prayer, he is ignorantly identifying himself with perishable flesh.

Really, you are not separate, apart from Me, nor other than I AM. Aware of the truth of Being, you can say – “I am the Truth now.”

Easy Living

God Is All

Something Wonderful Just Fell In Your Lap

What if you did follow Christ’s counsel to “seek first the kingdom of God?” Daily, you’d pray to know, understand, and even experience this kingdom. Soon, according to Christ’s promise, you would find this kingdom of God. You’d have struck gold.

Now your life is transformed. First, there’s the mind-blowing realization that the God you’ve been seeking, you ARE. Your world view changes. Everything, and everyone, is seen in a new light – the Light of God’s Presence. It’s wonderful.

Most astonishing, is that many of the things you struggled to attain, effortlessly fall in your lap. Isn’t that what Christ promised? “…and all these things shall be added.” And, it was all so easy. That’s my point: Spiritual living is easy.

When You Think About It, Human Living Is Hard

Why, then, do people say spiritual living is difficult? After all, the foundation of spiritual living is simple: God is All. Easy peasy. Go back to the beginning of this post and review the process. The prayer focus was on God and making God discoveries. Without any effort, those God discoveries revealed more of God’s Infinite Goodness as daily wonder-filled living experiences. Again, easy peasy.

However, spiritual living can seem to be hard as a stone wall. When prayer is adulterated by human desire, everything falls to pieces – useless pieces. When prayer is used to heal, prosper, bless, and enhance, things go haywire. “Allen, I don’t understand. I affirmed. I sat in the silence, and I contemplated, but nothing happened. I wasn’t healed. The job didn’t come through, and I’m still broke.” After weeks of praying to fix it, or get it, and the thing isn’t fixed or attained, frustration and doubt take over. God’s Allness is questioned, and from this point it’s all downhill, backwards on ice.

Is spiritual living, living without? No! Remember, “and all these things shall be added.” Health is the added thing. Prosperity is the added thing. All that which makes for “good living” are the added things, and you should enjoy them all.

Face this fact: Human living is hard. Starting and attempting to live from the false premise that you are separated from God and everything else is hard living.

You spend your waking hours struggling, fighting, and clawing to get the things your heart desires. Once you manage to get just a few of these things, you worry and scramble to maintain them. Then, there are trials and tribulations – one after another. That’s human living, and it’s hard living.

A Wonderful Life Of Discovery

Spiritual living is true living. And it’s effortless living. Spiritual living is a life of discovery – God discovery. It’s a life of discovering the nature of God, your Identity, your Body, and your World, and all of these awe-inspiring discoveries happen in the stillness of silent prayer.

Each new discovery unveils more of God’s Perfection in (as) your Life. They don’t create more good in your life, for all the goodness of God is already present. Your discoveries simply disclose them as practical, ready-to-be-enjoyed experiences.

Try It For Yourself

Don’t take my word for it. Try it for yourself. Jump, heart first, into the exciting world of God-discovery. Below are some helps.

  • Stop working on a problem. It’s all your “work” that seems to keep the problem in place.
  • Set your prayerful attention on one thing only – discovering Truth from within.
  • Before you get down to the business of praying, state your intention. It may be something like this. “I’m here to discover more Truth.”
  • Listen, expecting to make a spiritual discovery.

How long to listen? Until you get antsy. Then, get up and go about your business. Do this daily until you make a God-discovery. You will. And these discoveries will reveal more of God’s Presence in (as) your daily affairs.

I will not be surprised to get an email from you saying, “Allen, so many wonderful things are happening, and it’s been so easy.”

Your Self Is Not That self

bad-self-help

One Monday, like a crazed man, I rushed from one bookstore to another trying to track down a book. Everywhere I went, I quickly scanned the shelves and dashed off to the next store. I live in Washington, DC, one of the few cities that has an Amazon bookstore. I didn’t find my book there, but what I found raised a big question.

Amazon bookstores stock popular books that sell, and what flies off the shelves are self-help books. Here are a few of the best-selling titles:

  • You Are a Badass
  • Grit – The Power of Passion and Perseverance
  • Unf*ck Yourself (real popular)
  • Make Your Bed – Little Things That Can Change Your Life

Those are the contemporary answer to classic self-help books such as:

  • How To Win Friends and Influence People
  • As A Man Thinketh
  • The Power of Positive Thinking
  • Think and Grow Rich

Whether self-help books have ever helped anyone is still up for debate. While glancing over these titles, this question popped up: WHO AND WHERE IS THE SELF THAT NEEDS SO MUCH HELP?

Time and time again, we’ve said God is the only Presence. This is true. Being true, it’s easy to see that God is the only Self. God being your Self is your only Self. Your Self is Life, Love, Light, Perfection, Wholeness, Intelligence, Infinity, and a whole lot more.

So, reader, where is the self that needs help? Does it seem that you are the self sorely in need of help? Don’t believe it! You are not that self, and have never been that self.

If you can sincerely say that God is the only Presence, then dare claim – right now – that you are this Presence. You are not trapped in a cage of human conditions, bound by the restrictions of fictitious material laws. You are the One Self, the Perfect Self, the Unlimited Self. Know it to be so right now!

If you are wondering what book I was looking for, it was The Perfect Pie by America’s Test Kitchen. Even pies are perfect.

Is God Within You, Or Being You?

Presence-of-God

The excerpt below is by Marie Watts. It is from her newsletter The Word (1962), available from Mystics of the World.

We often hear someone say, “Oh, I know that I am in the presence of God, and that God is present in me.” This very statement, of itself, is evidence that the speaker comprehends very little of what is meant by the Presence of God.

If we are merely in the Presence of God, then we must exist as something other than God. If God is merely in us, we must have or be a substance that contains God but is not God. If either one of these premises could be true, it would mean that God is not All.

If God is All, God must be All that is presence and All that has presence. In order to really comprehend the total significance of this word Presence, we must go all the way in our acceptance of the fact that God is All.

You are the Presence of God because there is nothing but God to be present as your Presence. You are the Power of the Presence of God because there is nothing but the Presence of the Power of God present as you.

It is true that the illusory world certainly appears to present a picture of presences and powers that are not God. These false pictures cannot deceive you when you know that there is only one Presence, only one Power.

If some fallacy of weakness should attempt to deceive you, it is so easy to just realize that you are the Presence of the Power of infinite strength, and you are the Power of the Presence of infinite strength.

If there should seem to be a lack of any kind, you can contemplate the fact that you are the Presence of the supply of that which seems to be lacking or absent. No matter what the seeming need may be, you are the Presence of the Supply, thus you are not the presence of a need.

Now when you say, “I am the Presence of the Power of God,” you will experience a greater, deeper realization of the tremendous spiritual fact that you have stated. Furthermore, you will experience the joy of knowing and of seeing the evidence of that which you know.
